With modules I mean compilation units. The current convention is (if I am not mistaken) that if a private library function is called from other units it has the _gnutls_ prefix. If it is local to that unit then we skip the prefix. Since headers are included in several c units these static functions are thus used in several modules. There are other static functions that have the _gnutls_ prefix. That's why I've added the prefix. But you say strip it?
