I suggest making it possible to wait indefinitely, rather than hard-coding the duration (5 seconds). That would be possible with `gnutls_handshake_set_hook_function()` as mentioned in the `gnutls_session_get_data2()` documentation, and possibly a [self-pipe trick](https://cr.yp.to/docs/selfpipe.html).
