Thank you; I just tried (with and without `--disable-cxx`) and it works nicely. I guess you could also omit linking to `libgnutlsxx.la` in a couple of places (`tests/Makefile.am` and `doc/examples/Makefile.am`).

> When is 3.8.0 planned for?

It was originally planned for mid-November, but I guess it will be unlikely to happen until mid-January, as people are on holidays.
