<li>your page just claims that <code>SSIZE_T</code> is available on Windows, not <code>ssize_t</code>. That conforms to my previous comment (and all the references/discussion that I found).</li>
<li>why should compilation fail ? <code>AC_TYPE_SSIZE_T</code> always gives us a <code>ssize_t</code>.</li>
