<p dir="auto"><code>typeof</code> is a GCC extension (but widely supported - the code above works fine in <code>clang</code>).  But <code>typeof</code> is going to be added to the C23 standard.  This posting was recently made by the C23 Project Editor: <a href="https://twitter.com/__phantomderp/status/1494801365297676293" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://twitter.com/__phantomderp/status/1494801365297676293</a>  I would say that unless you need to support weird compilers (MSVC?) then it should be fine to use it.</p>
