Ägypten progress

Hi gpa-dev readers,

I hope you all arrived well in 2002!
The Ägypten Team did and I just wanted to
let you know about the status.

Right before christmas we were able to
do the first encryption/decryption
through KMail with new S/MIME cryptography
engine.
Now the work concentrates on LDAP access
to certificate revokation lists (CRLS)
and the key-management part.
Smartcard access is now planned in detail.

The development is in great
flux with this short-term project of course.
However, the *very* adventerous will find
hints on the aegypten web pages
and direct help on this list
if they want to try out what has been established
so far.
With the stabilization of the code there should be
some snapshots at ftp://ftp.gnupg.org/gcrypt/alpha/aegypten/

However, expect always some problems using CVS or
the tar-balls until the major development work has been
finished.
