Ägypten: Smartcards

Hi,

there was some direct discussion about the smartcard
incorporation for Ägypten. This is to let you
know about the most important decision.

The Ägypten project will use OpenSC to incorporate Smartcards.
PCSC Lite of the MUSCLE project will
be used to establish principle functionality.
Afterwards, PCSC lite will be replaced by a new implementation
that will allow access to some selected devices.
The primary reason is that the license of PCSC is
not compliant with the Ägypten project goals for licenses (GPL).
The substitute might even be available quite soon.

An alternative for OpenSC was SCEZ, but here also the license
(old BSD with advertisement clause) made us prefer the LGPL
licensed OpenSC.
