kmail hangs after gnupg-1.9.2

Hi all,
I upgraded to gnupg-1.9.2, with all the requested dependencies. Next I 
upgraded gpgme to the latest 0.3.16 release, in order to have Kmail plugins 
working with new gnupg-1.9.2.
Next I upgraded to KDE-3.1.4 and (related) Kmail 1.5.4; maybe the biggest 
mistake ;)
Now when in Kmail I select a SMIME signed message, Kmail hangs forever until I 
give a killall gpgsm command. After that everything goes just fine. OpenPGP 
plugin works, SMIME plugin as well. Kmail even recognizes whether a message 
is SMIME signed and, if the public key is present, properly recognizes the 
signer.
Pretty weird, isn't it?
