From bernhard at intevation.de Tue Dec 6 10:04:57 2022 From: bernhard at intevation.de (Bernhard Reiter) Date: Tue, 6 Dec 2022 10:04:57 +0100 Subject: Proposal to run an official Mastodon account for GnuPG/Gpg4win Message-ID: <202212061005.11203.bernhard@intevation.de> Dear Verein-Members, with many people moving to ActivityPub based fediverse for microblogging, my idea is to have a Mastodon account that can do official announcement and general comments about GnuPG, Gpg4win, OpenPGP and related topics of #FreeSoftware and #EndtoEndCrypto. My suggestion on gnupg-users@ was met with a number of positive responses and Werner (our chair) also agreed that we could try. I propose that the verein runs the Mastodon account and I volunteer to do it (as long as I and the verein want this). I may delegate it to people in my company (Intevation). Access to the account would be given to the other board members. In addition I think the verein shall volunteeringly pay one of the smaller (to medium) Mastodon instances to help covering their server and administrative costs; 50-10?/year seems reasonable to me. (The official https://twitter.com/gnupg channel as 20,800 followers which puts a bit load on a server if they start interacting with our posts.) If there are no objections within the next 7 days I'll go forward with it.
