md_enable: algorithm 2 not available

I've been digging around some more; panic occurs when control falls
through to BUG() in md.c:md_read().  The more informative complaint
seems to be what it logs slightly before ("md_enable: algorithm 2 not
available").  Is there something special that needs to be known to load
all the algorithms correctly?
