i'm not subscribed to this list, so please CC me on any responses.

the man page that came with GnuPG v1.3.5 says that the default
compress-level for bzip2 is 6. is that what GnuPG uses as a default
compress level? the "normal" default for bzip2 is 9.

the man page is confusing to me, because i'm not sure if gpg defaults to 6
with bzip2, or if the man page incorrectly assumes that bzip2 normally
uses a default compress level 6.

on a similar topic, would it be practical for GnuPG to read the
environment variables ZIP*, BZIP2 and GZIP?
