We should process the tilde.  We do this at all other places and it is a
bit surprising that it does not work here.

While looking at the code I figured that 1.4. and 2.0 are not anymore
identical.  1.4. does complete tilde expansion since 2005 whereas 2.0
still looks only at $HOME.  I'll put this on my list for 2.0.13.
