Alright, it actually acnnounceds it:

  $ gpg-connect-agent 'scd getattr EXTCAP' /bye
  S EXTCAP gc=0+ki=1+fc=1+pd=0+mcl3=0+aac=0+sm=0+si=0
  OK

si=0 is the Life Cycle status indicator which is 5 for cards which
support it.  Thus for my gnuk it does not work:

  gpg/card> factory-reset 
  gpg: OpenPGP card no. D276000124010200FFFE55FF6D060000 detected
  gpg: This command is not supported by this card
