Removing v3 support from 2.1

I disagree, but mostly because I think version numbers are increasingly
irrelevant nowadays.  What does it matter if we call the new model 2.1,
2.2, 3.0 or Claudette, so long as we make it clear precisely which Git
checkin it's branched from and when the branching occurred?

And just to be difficult, I hereby nominate the next version be named,
simply, "Claudette."  :)
