messy commit on STABLE-BRANCH-1-4

hi all--

it looks to me like there is a mistaken commit on STABLE-BRANCH-1-4.  In
particular, db246f8b18b77314938e596b8217bd97223d5aad probably only
intends to modify g10/tdbio.c, but in practice, it commits a lot of
backup or generated files in po/*.po~ and po/*.gmo.

This is probably something worth reverting (or rebasing the branch based
on a cleaned-up commit, if the project's vcs policy permits that) before
a new release of 1.4 is made.
