For the records: The name of the thing is "The GnuPG Project".

GPGME is not a wrapper around gpg but a generic API for end to end
crypto protocols.  How they are implemented in the backends
(src/engine-*.c) is an implementation details and orthogonal to the API.
And no, not all features of gpg will be supported by GPGME.
