Further informations:

The problem seems to be with my encryption. My friend can decrypt files,
which were encrypted by him or someone else (except me, of course).

Files I encrypt can usually be read by the recipient (I'm doing further
tests, thanks Graham!). There is only this one exception until now.

The only thing that doesn't work is *my* encryption with *his* key.
Change one or both of the marked words and everything works perfectly.

I'm running the stable Debian distro (pretty much up to date) with
gnupg_1.0.4-1.deb.

~$ gpg --version
gpg (GnuPG) 1.0.4
[...]

Home: ~/.gnupg
Supported algorithms:
Cipher: 3DES, CAST5, BLOWFISH, RIJNDAEL, RIJNDAEL192, RIJNDAEL256, TWOFISH
Pubkey: RSA, RSA-E, RSA-S, ELG-E, DSA, ELG
Hash: MD5, SHA1, RIPEMD160

Thanks for any help

Christoph
