You're right, of course.  I misread his process and missed the -a tucked
into his gpg command line.

The problem was that, once he had the armored data in the clipboard and
then had the decrypted binary data in the clipboard, he was having
trouble pulling from the clipboard and saving to a file.  His answer was
to use the WinPT file manager instead of clipboard, and he's on his way
again.

Meanwhile, he's so confused about email and news (he uses LookOut! to
read the news group but was getting email and blah blah blah) that he
hasn't yet figured out how to get a summary back to the group, so there
it is :-)
