Assuming text-only communications:
	cut compose/view window contents to clipboard
	encrypt/decrypt clipboard contents
	paste clipboard contents back to compose/view window

Attachments could be encrypted/decrypted locally (ie. copies on hard
disk) before/after sending/receiving.
