Ask them! I guess it has two advantages:
1) easier to use (e.g. built into Outlook and Outlook Express and key 
distribution is automatic.)
2) some people have easier to understand the hierarchical trust model. And 
they do trust Thawte :-) - I might be able to convince them to trust me too!
