Ah! Yes! The bad old days.
The first computer I was responsable for buying (fortunately not with my
money) had 16384 words of RAM, each word holding 24 bits. (Computer
Control/Honeywell DDP-224). It had two _40 Megabyte_ 2400rpm hard drives
(removable disk packs), each the size of a washing machine and costing
$40,000 each.
The machine I am currently building has _4 Gigabytes_ of ECC DDR SDRAM
that cost me $1200. It has 4 10,000rpm 18 Gigabyte Ultra/320 SCSI hard
drives (and a 7200rpm 80 Gigabyte IDE/ATA hard drive).
Times sure have changed.
