Typing gpg -v --version will give you the capabilities along with the
relative numbers for your compiled version of gpg

Example:

$ gpg -v --version
gpg (GnuPG) 1.4.10-svn4783
Copyright (C) 2008 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
License GPLv3+: GNU GPL version 3 or later <http://gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html
