This reminds me of an idea we had some time ago: If there is a real user
base for OpenSSH/Cygwin on Windows, we should support it directly.
IIRC, Cygwin's way of emulating Unix Domain sockets is similar to the
way we do it with GnuPG but different in detail. Now with the socket
redirect features (see https://bugs.gnupg.org/gnupg/msg6568 ) we have a
mechanism in place which should allow us to support different types of
socket emulation. Right now the socket emulation is an ad-hoc thing but
the plan is to make it similar to the redirect feature and thus
libassuan would be able to detect whether the GnuPG emulation scheme is
in use or a foreign (Cygwin) one.
Shall we open a feature request for this?
