How do I delete secret subkeys correctly?

$ gpg --edit-key [KEYID]
gpg> key N
gpg> delkey

Where N is the number of the subkey you want to delete; they are
numbered 1 for the first one listed and so on. It will indicate with a
"*" next to the "ssb" line which one(s) you have selected. Deselect by
another "key N"; it's a toggle.
