aiui, an elliptic curve of sensible properties that uses N bits is considered to be roughly equivalent to N/2-bit symmetric crypto, so i don't think a new field is necessary,just an adjustment of the math in `lib/pubkey.c#L68`.

@dueno, i think you're the author of 07596231f2e which introduces the "57" length for Ed448.  If you're not sure why it's 57 instead of 56, maybe we can just correct it to match X448?  I'll try to propose a tested correction, and folks can critique/complain if there's something wrong.
