strange gpa behavour under fedora core 4

I'm not sure if gpa uses gpgme, but for seahorse, you could try to set the  
environment variable

GPGME_DEBUG=5:/tmp/seahorse-gpgme.out

Then look into the log file - maybe it gives you more hints!
