Did I?  I only recall that once I changed the generation code to make
sure the timestamp of the self-signatures, the primary key and the
subkeys are all the same.

GnuPG knows only about two notation data keys:

  preferred-email-encoding at pgp.com
  
    This does nothing except that an application is able to query it.
    We need to put it in GPG only so that it may be marked as criticial;
    there is no use for it in GPG proper; MUAs may need it though (and
    need to handle the critical flag then).

  pka-address at gnupg.org

    This is used by GPG for its PKA key retrieval/trust system
