Your help is very welcome! I suggest you write a ChangeLog based on
the diff between Peters release and the current CVS content.
If we are lucky, we may identify groups of independent changes
that we/you can merge back stepwise.
Would you like to follow this procedure?

One big problem already occured: UTF-8 (see recent mails on this list). 
It might have been detected earlier with a larger user test group.
It might also have not been detected, but on average the more public
a development is performed, the less flaws are in the corresponding software.
